You probably want to lose FAT, not weight. Weight is fat, but also includes muscle, water, bone, and stool. 30lbs before summer is doable. Start now though.

To lose fat:
1.DON'T BELIVE THOSE FAD DIETS!
2.Eat healthy and eat about 500 calories a day less than you normally do (DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF!)
3.Do light/moderate cardio 3 to 5 times a week for 30 to 45 minutes each time.
4.Do some strength training to make sure you lose fat and not muscle. Don't worry, you won't look like the hulk if you lift weights.
5.You should lose about 1-2lbs per week. If you lose more than that, chances are the rest is stool, water weight, or even muscle mass.
6.Weigh yourself only once a week at the same time (ie every Friday morning). Your weight fluctuates a lot during any 24hour period because of water and food intake and also bowel movements.
7. Be patient and be smart.

Is it possible to lose 30 pounds in a month ?

Hi, I am fifteen years old and I weigh 150 pounds. I want to lose 30 pounds before school starts back up in January. If anyone can help me find an effective way to lose weight that would be great. Thanks. Bye.

yep

Can i lose 30 pounds before my birthday in January?

I Am 12 at 180 pounds and need to lose 30 pounds before my Birthday in January. Will walking a mile or more 5 days a week, eat less and healthier, and drink juice and water instead of soda like i do help me achieve this goal of mine? Also what some other ways to do so.

At 12 years of age, you really should not be thinking about such a drastic diet. As an adult, your goal is to ONLY lose one pound (if you have about 10 pounds to your goal) a week and if you have a more significant weight loss needed, ONLY lose two pounds a week.

There is no “fast” way to go about this! Your next goal is to ensure your losing GOOD weight. Not water weight from a pill which you will eventually gain back and have it hurt you while it has you dehydrated. Not putting you in starvation mode where your burning mostly muscle and not fat.

A better / more realistic goal would be about 8 to 10 lbs by January. Why 30?

Remember, calories in minus calories out is good if that number is negative, but if you take it too far you will hurt yourself!!!

You can figure out roughly what your BMR is by many different calculators online.

Once you get that, you need to figure out your normal activity and add it to your BMR.

Then finally, add your exercise calories.

If you are not eating enough calories based on your current weight and activity level, you will end up burning muscle instead of fat (your ultimate goal). Burning muscle hurts you cause you will lower your metabolism and burn less calories in a day! It takes work for your body to keep muscle (repairing it and building it), so it is the first to go if your body thinks its not getting enough calories!

Try going to www.myfitnesspal.com the forum on there has excellent advice and the whole program does a really good in helping you be away of how many calories your putting in and how many you should be burning off!

I have a few of my “close to overweight” Marines on it and it has worked wonders for them! Including two that are having a tough time losing their weight after a pregnancy!!!

Back to you being 12… You really need to be careful about dieting. What you really should do is talk to your PE/Health teacher about better ways to approach this. She should be mentioning serving size and calories in / calories out. Because your young, its difficult to determine your BMR rate (how many calories you would use when your only resting). However, if you start counting your calories and become conscious of your serving sizes, you will quickly just see how much that 32oz Coke has in it or that piece of cake has 400 calories.

The final part is to make sure you start doing something cardio. My best suggestion is running. You need to exercise, figure out the calories you use during exercise, and EAT them!

If you have questions, please let me know!

How can I lose 30 pounds (or more) in 4 months?

I will be having a huge birthday party in 4 months and i want to buy this amazing dress, but i need to lose about 30 pounds to buy it! Can anyone seriously give me some help? I am willing to be commited to doing whatever…. thanks so much

Unless you start out way overweight, the most you should be losing on a healthy diet + exercise plan should be 2 pounds a week. So, if there are 4 weeks in a month, 2 x 4 x 4 = 32 lbs lost. 30 pounds lost HEALTHILY is very doable.

i have a hard time believing i can lose 30 pounds?

i have always been slim, but recently i gained about 30 pounds.
i hate it sooo much. i work out constantly and i’m trying to eat better and all that, but for some reason i have absolutes no hope.

i don’t know why, but it’s hard for me to believe i can lose that much weight and look the way i want to without a personal trainer or something like that.
any advice?

You need a positive attitude to get started. Once you believe you can do it then you will be focused. I am on a weigh loss goal myself and I want to lose 40 by Christmas. I started on 7/10 and am down 8 lbs. I run outside or do the treadmill 6 days a week. I also have an exercise bike. I try to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. I eat dry turkey sandwiches on wheat bread, fat free yogurt, hard boiled eggs and salad. Drink lots of water all day long. Exercise is the key. For me I am also building muscle mass by doing push ups and abdominal exercises every day. If you don’t have equipment, you can jog or go for brisk walks. Try to get something out of your workouts. You need to increase your heart rate to burn fat. Walk uphill. If you have a bike, go ride it. Run on a local school track. Be dedicated. You should be able to lose 15 lbs in 10-12 weeks. figure 1 or 2 lbs a week. Good luck.

Trying to lose 30 pounds, can I still eat white rice in small portions?

Mostly, I eat whole grains. I even eat brown rice, too. But brown rice doesn't work with everything I want to eat. Is it ok to still eat white, long grain rice sometimes? Not extraordinary portions but a little? And about 2-4 times a week? I'm trying to lose 30 pounds and tone/tighten up.
Ginette, how does your program work?
Inna- that is comforting to hear considering that rice is like a staple.

You sure can. My clients eat white rice 2 to 4 times every week and still lose 2 to 3 pounds per week. I give them daily menus and all they have to do is eat. Sometimes light cardio is included like walking or spinning for 20 to 30 minutes. High protein, low carb, lots of fruit, veggies and plenty of water. You can lose 30 pounds in 12 weeks on my program.

Needs to lose 30 pounds in one month to join military?

My husband needs to join the military no later than a month from now in order to be home when our 2nd child is due. The down side, he has to lose 30 pounds. He has tried this 3 day diet, correctly, and lost a little over 5 pounds. Is their any diet he can do to lose weight rapidly? He's says it doesn't matter if its healthy now because after he joins he will eat normal. He has also tried eating alot of tuna, and now the smell of it makes him sick.

An all water and Celery diet!!!!

Celery takes more calories to digest it then it does to eat it!

Just throw out all the junk food, I just did 15 min. ago, my husband told me I was gaining too much. I am about 15 lbs overweight, and it hurt really bad to hear this from him, because he did not say it nice, but it's true. We know how to do it, it's just putting our minds to it.

You know the drill, lots of water, no eating late at night, more fish and chicken and tuna, less beef, no pork. No cheese, unless low fat. Light butter, light sour cream, light everything!.

Walk Walk Walk Walk
Run up and down your stairs
get off this computer!
not too much t.v.

Don't drink pop
Orange juice is fattening, add water to it.
Use vinegar on your salads
Fruit and veggies etc……

Is it possible to lose 30 pounds in 2 months ?

I am staying home this summer, and would like to know if it is possible to lose 30 pounds in 2 months..if I excersize at least 5 times a week 2 hours each day and drink alot of water and healthy foods. Which carbs should I have? and What protein should I Eat?

I don't think that's possible, and even if it was, it would be extremely dangerous for your health.

The medical community pretty much agrees that the slower you lose it, the longer it stays off. One pound per week seems to be about as fast as you can lose it safely and healthily.

It's always good to exercise (in sensible ways) and eat healthily (in sensible ways). You should be able to lose maybe around 10 pounds (depending on how overweight you currently are). 30 pounds, forget it.

Carbs vs protein etc is all medically dubious. What matters for weight loss is calories in vs calories out. If you spend more energy than you eat you lose weight. Obviously some foods have more calories than others but it's more important to eat sensibly (better foods, a bit less, mostly plants, as unprocessed as possible).

How can you lose 30 pounds in 2 months?

I'm 5'2'' and I weigh 128. I don't look really fat but I am kinda of chubby but muscular. I need to lose 30 pounds i the next 2 months. Is there any healthy ways I could lose the weight and gain more muscle?
My doctor suggested I lose the weight

Always remember that muscle weight is heavier than fat weight. You are very petite and 128 sounds like you might be able to lose several pounds and be OK with that. The only healthy way to lose weight and gain more muscle is to exercise and eat healthy foods rather than comfort foods. Watch your carbohydrate intake but eat balanced meals. Exercise will help you to eat less too! That sounds strange but that's exactly what happens. Another benefit of exercise is that your metabolic rate speeds up burning fat faster than if you were laying around the house eating chips all day! Don't overtax your stomach by eating a full meal late at night. It's much tougher to metabolize food when the body is at rest. If you're hungry late in the evening then satisfy that hunger by eating a healthy snack like a piece of fruit, a container of yogurt or some nuts and dried fruits. Good luck in your quest!

What is the best way for me to lose 30 pounds in 2 or 3 months?

How can I lose 30 pounds in the shortest amount of time possible? Please help me.

I can only tell you how I lost 30 pounds in 3 months and maybe it will work for you. I did not do any exercise. All I did was not eat until 5 pm every day for 3 months. And when I ate I only ate salad, fruits, tuna fish and chicken noodle soup. I am a salad lover so I made my salad many different ways so I did not get tired of them. Sometimes I made chicken salad or salad with a little tuna on top. Other times I made a great garden salad. Just make it how you will like it so you wont get tired of it. Try to stay away from breads and any fried foods. But if you eat what I only ate up top you should lose weight too.

How long will it take to lose 30 pounds?

If I diet and exercise everyday (30 mins of cardio, 20 mins of weights/crunches)? I’m not going to starve myself but I am going to eat a very well balanced diet and stay away from sweets and fattening food. At this rate, how long should it take to lose around 30 pounds?

It will take you about 4-6 months if you consistently exercise and condition your body and eat right. Expect ups and downs and plateaus, but try and focus on the inches you lose and not the pounds. Remember fat weighs less than muscle, so even if you don’t loss the weight, you will be more healthy and look more tone

How can I lose 30 pounds without being hungry?

I'm 23 and i hav a dog. I'm not that heavy but I want to lose 30 pounds. I have a small dog that cannot walk that long but i try to walk him as much as possible. i hate working out because nothing is fun and I am tired of spending money. I also hate dieting bc i love to cook and eat and when i'm hungry, im exhausted and lazy. When i exercise on my treadmill in the morning I am exhausted after. what can i do to lose 30 lbs the safe way with fun and not feeling like a tub of lard afterall.

only serious answers please, i really want a lifestyle change and hav no idea where to start!

I understand where you are coming from - I had many of the same problems and after trying Weight Watchers for a few months with my Dad (and loosing a bit) I was depressed because I couldn't eat what I want to eat. Although I couldn't stick with the program I did learn some valuable lessons.

1. Portion control - cook what you like, just eat in moderation. I now try to eat on the small "salad plates" we have at home instead of the big ones - it makes what you have look like more.

2. Salad - I must admit, salad is not my favorite, but I am a sucker for restaurant salads. Find a lower fat dressing you like and eat salads before you eat your meal. They are better for you and fill you up a bit so you eat less of the bad stuff.

3. Give and Take - you can eat what you like, but not all the time. I have a hard time with this, but I must admit, on my Weight Watchers diet I learned I LOVE Special K cereal, I don't know why, but it tastes good. I try to eat a small portion (it was 1 cup cereal and 1/2 cup milk on WW) with another good morning choice like a piece of fruit for breakfast. This healthier breakfast might be a good choice if you are going to eat worse later.

4. Try several small meals instead of three large ones and remember breakfast! They say eating smaller meals keeps your metabolism working throughout the day.

I hope you can incorporate some of these into your lifestyle. It's not going to make the weight drop quickly as it would with correct eating and exercise, but it helps some.

What is a healthy way to lose 30 pounds?

I weigh 140 pounds, and I stand at about 5'7. My body is 76 percent muscle, 20 percent fat, and about 4 percent water. I need to know a healthy way to lose 30 pounds in about 3 months without it costing over 20 dollars. Is it possible? If so, please post.
Thank you so much Alex! That sounds really good, and I will most definetly try it.

here's what you're gonna do on the treadmill 3x a week (spread out). it's called HiiT (high intensity inverval training). the workout is only 20 minutes long, but it will boost your metabolism to burn 9x more than an hour on the tread mill. so what you do is walk for one minute, then run for one, then walk, run, walk, run, etc. for one minute each until you get to 20. HOWEVER, it's not that easy because during the run, you should really be pushing yourself to the point that you don't think you'll be able to take it anymore. you many have to play witht he speed to see where you are. and eventually the run speed will get higher and higher as you get in better shape. pick another two days a week to do either a regualr paced jog or go ride a bike around. or even go for a few mile walk outside. you're gonna want to rest on your days off from HiiT cuz it's intense.

as far as diet, NO MORE sugars, chips, sodas (unless it's a diet soda) fattening foods, fried foods, or any junk food, period!!! eat lean meats like chicken breast and fish or egg whites even. eat your carbs for breakfast in the form of oat meal or cream of wheat. you can have some carbs at lunch too, but not much and none for dinner. lunch should either be a healthy sandwhich or a little bit of brown rice and chicken or fish. dinner chicken or fish and veggies. if you're hungry in between meals and want a snack, have an egg white or two. seriously, learn how to portion your meals. pay attention here: eat until you are no longer hungry–NOT until you're full. you'll learn the difference if you pay close attention.

what a healthy sandwhich is considered to be is something like this (it's what i eat) turkey on wheat with just lettuce, tomato and very light on may or none at all. you can add pickles and stuff, but i just personally don't like them. but don't go adding cheese or anything like that.

you do that and you'll probably drop that weight in a healthy way in that time–10 lbs a month or so.

What is a safe way to lose 30 pounds in a half a year?

Im 5'5'' and I weigh about 165 and I want to lose at least 30 pounds.Im an exchange student in Switzerland so I will have to eat a lot of swiss food but I hate cheese and i dont eat a lot of chocolate so i dont have to worry about that.What kind of food and exercise would you reccomend and do you think 6 months is a decent amount of time to lose the weight.

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

What is an effective way to lose 30 pounds?

I want to lose about 30 pounds. I have one of those exercie bikes and I would like to use that. Any ideas on how long, how many days a week, and the intensity I should ride the bike for? Also any information on things I should do with my diet and any other information would be very helpful. Finally, how long does it take before I start to notice results? And how long to lose the whole 30 pounds?

I'm 5'8'' and weigh about 170 and I'm 19 years old.

You can lose the weight on any healthy eating plan but what's important is to find the eating plan you can stick with for life. If you go off the plan after you've lost the weight you'll just gain it all back and more if you revert back to what you were previously eating. That's the reason most dieters fail. So do your research before you begin and don't be afraid to switch from one plan to another as you are losing. Consider it a learning process for maintaining your weight.

For ideas on the various plans you can search Google or go to the Weight Loss forum at About.com. You'll see kinds of comments there about the various plans as well as articles at the site home page…

http://forums.about.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?webtag=ab-weightloss

I do know what I'm saying. I've had weight issues all my life and had lost quite a bit of weight twice before. It wasn't until early in 2004 that I found the plan that actually works for me. I've maintained a 70 lb. loss for two years now. Previous to this loss I had always started gaining again within just a couple of months of hitting my goal weight.

So you see… The magic for keeping it off is to choose an eating plan that keeps you happy and doesn't eliminate the foods you like the most.

Everyone is different when it comes to results, although most people have significant losses during the first week or two. Most of it is just water but it's nice to see the scale drop so quickly. Losing one to two pounds per week is ideal after the first couple of weeks. Losing faster means you're losing muscle rather than fat and could also be starving yourself, which can permanently screw up your metabolism.

You can also get good answers to your exercise questions at the Weight Loss forum. There are many people there who are practically experts. You can also find good information at many of the exercise sites at About.com.

Good luck!

One interesting way to lose 30 pounds - politics

Hello-

I was reading the news on Google the other day and came across this diet tip from Cindy McCain about the best way to lose 30 pounds:

“The best way to lose 30 pounds, she said, was to get out on the campaign trail. As proof: The white pants she was wearing were two sizes too big, she said. This, as Reston points out, comes from a woman who told Vogue that she wears size 0 Lucky Jeans. Not the kind of detail that’s likely to strike a chord of empathy. Or, for that matter, the kind of experience the women in the crowd — any crowd — could replicate. How many will have a chance to hit the presidential campaign trail, as spouses or candidates?” Source

Most of us will not be able to copy Cindy’s weight loss plan, nor would many of us want to.

But the key point is that she is very active and always on the move on the campaign trail.

That’s the key.  You have to keep moving and stay very active.  Walking is one of the easiest exercises you can do.

It’s also the cheapest.

You can wake up in the morning and take a 15-30 minute walk around the block.

Do this before you eat breakfast and just watch how much more energy you have throughout the day.

Get into the habit of staying active and walking whenever you get the chance and you too could drop a pant size or two and before you know it, you’ll have lost 30 pounds.

Thanks for reading.

Have a great day!

-Adam

What is a healthy BMI level for women?

Hello-

Do you know what your BMI, body mass index is?

Your BMI, or Body Mass Index, tells you how much fat there is in your body.  An accurate BMI reading is a great way to tell whether or not you’re at a healthy weight.  If your BMI is too high you are at a greater risk of weight-related health problems like heart disease, stroke and diabetes.   Maintaining a healthy BMI is one of many ways to stay healthy and reduce your risk of future problems.

To calculate your BMI, you simply need to know your weight in kilograms and your height in meters.  A healthy BMI range for men and women is between 18.5 and 25.  Below 18.5 is considered underweight, 25 to 30 is overweight, and over 30 is considered obese.

Healthy Body Mass Index Levels:

* Underweight = <18.5
* Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
* Overweight = 25-29.9
* Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

Click here for a free BMI calculator

You should monitor your BMI regularly if you think you weight is changing (or needs changing).  That means if you gain weight OR if you lose weight.  While it doesn’t garner nearly as much attention, a BMI that is too low is just as dangerous as one that is too high.  If your BMI is below 18.5, you should alter your habits to gain weight in a healthy manner.  A doctor can help you come up with a weight gain plan just as they would for weight loss.

While you may be an adult legally when you turn eighteen, BMI calculations don’t consider you an adult until you’re twenty.  Women under age twenty can calculate their BMI in the same way as adults, but the cut-offs for a healthy range are different and vary by age.  If you’re nineteen or younger, you should check age/weight ratio charts to determine if you fall in the healthy range.  A BMI less that 5% of other women your age is considered underweight, between 5 and 85 percent is healthy, 85 to 95 percent is overweight, and above 95% is obese.

Just because your BMI doesn’t fall into the healthy range doesn’t mean you need to lose or gain weight.  If you are older, or if you are an athlete or just very muscular, your BMI may not be accurate.  This is because BMI is a general tool developed for men and women aged twenty and above, and isn’t specific to age, sex, or body type.  If your BMI is high or low, you should consider getting a more accurate reading of body fat percentage from your doctor.  Also, if you eat healthy and exercise regularly, you are probably less likely to have health issues than someone with the same BMI and a poor lifestyle.

If your BMI is not in the healthy range, your best course of action is to visit your doctor.  The can give you a healthy weight loss or weight gain plan that is right for you.

Best ways to lose 30 pounds fast

Hello-

What are the best ways to lose 30 pounds fast?

lose 10 pounds fast

For most people, there is more than one right answer. There are several good answers

If you want to lose weight, gain muscle, get a firmer butt or belly, etc., you have plenty of options to choose from.

There’s meal replacement programs, workout programs, diet pills, weight loss surgeries, diet plans, fad diets and tons of other weight loss programs. Oh yeah, there’s even the Jared Subway diet plan. :o)

Many of them have tons of successful testimonials from people who have used those programs and gotten rid of all the weight they’ve wanted.

How to lose 30 pounds in 30 minutes a day

Hello-

Lose 30 pounds this year in just 30 minutes a day.

Can you find half an hour in your busy day to lose 30 pounds this year?

Yes.

The secret to losing 30 pounds in 30 minutes a day is just taking a walk.

You have to keep moving.

Be active.

Walk around the house, walk around the office, walk around the grocery store, etc.

When you walk for 30 minutes a day, you can burn up to 300 calories or more.  Burning 300 calories per day works out to 30 pounds a year.

If you’re 250 pounds right now, imagine being 220 in just 365 days.

I’m at 245 pounds and for me, a brisk walk will burn 323.4 calories in 30 minutes.  You can check your numbers here

Half an hour of walking per day…

No diet pills

No risky surgery

No fad diets

No starving yourself

It’s so easy a caveman could do it :o)

If you want to get the weight off faster you could jog instead of walk.  That burns almost twice as many calories.  So you could lose 60 pounds a year or 30 pounds in 6 months.

Try this before you buy another piece of exercise equipment that you won’t use or diet program that you won’t follow.

Get up in the morning and walk for 15 minutes away from your house and then after 15 minutes turn around and walk back.  Then eat a healthy breakfast.

You’ll find yourself thinking more clearly and having more energy throughout the day.

Have a great day!

How to fit a workout into your busy schedule

Hello-

We’re all busy.  Our best laid plans to start working out usually don’t last long after New Years.  Life is just so $%%@!# busy.  So many things to do and so little time.

But…

The longer you and I go without exercising, the more accustomed we get to not working out and the fatter we get and the harder it is to start when we finally commit to it.

Today, I wanted to share some tips for fitting a workout into your busy schedule because there is all so much crap to do each day that we believe we cannot find the 30 minutes or so to get a decent workout in.

Here are some ways you can fit in a workout:

* Get up early and start your day with a workout.  You don’t have to seriously disrupt your sleep pattern.  Just 20 or 30 minutes each day, or an hour three or four times a week, is enough of a workout to make a noticeable difference.

* Go for a walk or jog during your breaks at work.  You won’t work up a sweat like you would at a regular workout, but it’s a start.

* Hit a nearby gym during your lunch hour.  You can get in a half hour workout and still have a half hour to eat.

* Are you unable to fit in a workout because of the kids?  Sign up for a Mommy and Me class.  If that doesn’t work for you, enlist the help of a friend in the same situation.  Have her help you with your kids while you work out, and do the same for her.

* Substitute a workout for your daily TV time.  Will your life really be less complete if you miss that certain show?  If you truly can’t bear to miss it, work out while you watch.

* Find a set of workout videos that you enjoy.  Keep them in a place where you will see them often, and make it a point to work out whenever you have some free time.  This works well if you have a highly unpredictable schedule.  Just remember to shoot for at least three good workouts each week for maximum benefit.

Finding time for a workout sometimes seems like an impossible task, but it’s not.  If you can set aside 30 minutes to an hour each day, you can get in enough physical activity to make a noticeable difference.  And once you see how much better you feel with regular workouts, you’ll be more motivated to fit them into your schedule.

7 things you should know about master cleanse type diets

Hello-

I see commercials for “master cleanse” or the “dual action cleanse” diets all the time promising super fast weight loss without doing much work.

Today, I wanted to address some of the pros and cons of these types of cleansing diets.

Cleansing or detoxification diets are becoming increasingly popular.  The diets operate under the assumption that toxins from food preservatives, pesticides and our body’s own natural waste are stored in our bodies, and that the right combination of food or elimination of food can eliminate these toxins from our bodies to give us a clean start.

Here are some of the pros and cons of cleansing diets:

Pros:

1.  Cleansed palate.  One of the most interesting but less thought of pros of a cleansing diet is the fact that when you don’t eat any processed foods for several days or weeks, you lose your taste for them.  Many cleansing diets require you to only drink teas or juices.  When you’ve finished with the diet, you no longer crave the processed foods you once did.  Twinkies and fast food burgers are no longer appealing.

2.  Cleaned out toxins.  While this isn’t scientifically proven, many believe that toxins are indeed cleaned out of your body when you go on a cleansing diet.  If this is true, then this is certainly a significant benefit to your overall health.

3.  Temporary weight loss.  Most cleansing diets result in weight loss.  The weight loss varies by type of diet and duration; a two day fast will not result in as much weight loss as you might imagine.  If you plan on incorporating very healthy eating habits after your cleansing diet is complete, then you may be able to maintain the weight loss.  However, the majority of weight loss will not be permanent.  Some people choose to go on a cleansing diet right before an important event where they want to look particularly good, like a class reunion.

4.  More energy.  The majority of people who are fans of cleansing diets will tell you that one of the major benefits of a cleansing diet is the increase in energy you feel.  This increase in energy can occur both during the diet and after the diet is completed.

Cons:

1.  Unpleasant symptoms.  There are a number of unpleasant side effects people feel when on a cleansing diet.  You may suffer from:

•    Fatigue
•    Insomnia
•    Feeling weak
•    Headaches
•    Digestive distress
•    Feeling dizzy
•    Feeling irritable

Proponents of cleansing diets will remind you that these side effects are only temporary and you’ll feel much better after.

2.  Temporary weight loss.  The weight loss you’re likely to see from a cleansing diet is most often temporary.  As soon as your diet ends, the weight is put back on.  The goal of these types of diets is not to lose weight but to eliminate toxins.

3.  Difficult to do correctly.  Cleansing diets can be difficult to do correctly and can be unsafe.  It is recommended that you do a lot of research on your chosen diet and see a doctor before undertaking any extreme changes in your diet.

Cleansing diets can be a good thing if they’re handled correctly and you’re prepared for all of the potential side effects.  Take the time to research, and visit your doctor before you make a decision.

To me, the master cleanse diet and dual action cleanse systems are not long term solutions to help you lose weight.  They may provide you with a temporary boost but may have too many negative consequences that outweigh their benefits.

Tips to help you lose 30 pounds

Hello-

Today, I wanted to share some tips to help you lose 30 pounds.  Now don’t expect to lose all this weight in a week or two.  That would just be silly.  And even if you did manage to lose that much weight that fast, you most certainly would start to gain it all back and then some.

Studies show that if you go off a diet plan that helped you lose 30 pounds, you will gain more than those 30 lost pounds back over time and you’ll be worse off than before you started that diet plan.

I’m not a big fan of diet plans.  I’m more a fan of lifestyle changes.  I have modified my eatings habits to make it easier for me to lose weight over time without dieting or having to do too much exercise.

“there are no shortcuts or magic shakes or bars that will to be your ticket to Slimville”

Planning your meals ahead of time allows you to have nutritious homemade food instead of burgers and fries. Giving up evening snacks alone could knock off 15 pounds by the end of the year. Plans that force you only to eat certain foods are bound to fail because it’s almost impossible to stick to them, and they are often not balanced to give you proper nutrition.

Eat more vegetables and fruits. Limit meats and concentrated sweets. Eating any healthy food alone isn’t enough for the average person.  When choosing your diet, make sure it is low in saturated fats and cholesterol, also moderate in total fat.

Most people need to have some form of exercise in their weight loss routine.  When you exercise regularly, you build stronger muscles, even if you do not work out with weights. Exercise is another vital component of weight loss and weight management.

You should begin and maintain an exercise program which is based on getting at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week. Research shows that following a weight loss program with support from others significantly contributes to weight loss success.  Get a friend to workout with you and you can lose weight together. Make sure you choose physical activities you enjoy that you’ll keep doing.

Dieting can be frustrating! Diets that claim that you can get to your goal weight in no time with minimal effort can be very attractive and easy to fall for.

Try to avoid dieting because it is usually not maintainable or enjoyable.

Check out YayFood for help with better eating and losing fat.

Why you won’t lose 30 pounds with popular fad diets

Hello-

I’m not one for fad dieting. I’ve seen all the commercials where the celebrities have lost 30 or more pounds in a short period of time and want you to do the same thing.

Here’s an article arguing against fad diets if you really want to have effective weight loss:

Why popular fad diets are bad for you

It is not surprising that many people wonder why fad diets are bad when they seem to get results. You will find many sites on the internet claiming significant weight loss in just a few days. That type of weight loss is always temporary. It is usually 90% water which will be put straight back on as soon as your body rehydrates, which it must do if you are not going to suffer severe health problems or die.

Other fad diets are not so obviously crash diets with outrageous claims but they are over hyped diet plans that tend to be fashionable for a while and usually make a lot of money for the inventor in associated product sales. In the best cases these are good nutrition plans which will help you lose weight, but which you could probably have gotten for free from your doctor. In the worst cases they will prove so difficult to follow that you will give up after a week.

The cons of fad diets

1. Diets that promise quick and easy weight loss are usually based on eating more of one food type and none of another. These do not give the benefits that you would get from a balanced diet. They may suggest you take supplements but many supplements are not absorbed by the body unless they are taken along with the foods that the diet has banned. After a few weeks, if you stick to it that long, you may begin to develop nutritional deficiencies.

2. Fad diets are often boring and over restrictive. After the novelty of the first day or two, you will not enjoy your meals. You will then start to crave food constantly and will break the diet. You may even feel guilty, thinking it is your fault that you did not lose weight.

3. Most fad diets do not follow recommendations of the American Heart Association and similar bodies for fat levels in the diet. Often the diet will recommend high fat foods and low carbs which if taken long term, could result in heart disease. The promoters may tell you that the diet is only intended to be followed for a short time. But you probably will not reach your goal weight in that time, and then what? You either continue with a plan that is not good for your health, or stop and probably gain back what you lost.

4. Many fad diets do not help you to incorporate enough servings of fruits and vegetables in your weight loss program, or give you the variety of foods that your body needs.

5. Quick weight loss diets are just a temporary solution and do not help you to make permanent changes to your eating habits. Permanent changes are the only way to remain at your target weight once you reach it. Fad diets encourage yo-yo diet-binge cycles of fast weight loss and equally fast weight gain. This is worse for your health and your self esteem than if you had stayed overweight all the time.

Whatever the publicity materials may say, these diets will not help you in the long term. The best way to sustain weight loss is to eat a varied and healthy diet, do not overeat, exercise regularly and avoid fad diets.

Have a great day and thanks for reading!

How to increase your metabolism to help you lose 30 pounds

Hello-

Wanted to share an article with you about increasing your metabolism to help you lose 30 pounds…

Our forefathers never had to worry about increasing metabolism levels simply because they engaged in physical labor at least in the earlier years of their lives. From the preparation of firewood down to the supply of potable water and even on errands, they sweated it out to do the chores. But as technology progressed, people just had to sit inside air-conditioned rooms, chat on the phone, surf the internet and lives are practically established. We have relegated physical activities as simply boring and tiring to result in a battery of medical concerns.

Modern day executives seldom have healthy metabolic rates. Many are either overweight or obese and most likely diabetic. Naturally, a lot of people would enroll in gym classes while attempting fad diets just to stay healthy, which happens to be a really expensive and cumbersome process when a little walking to and from work already does the trick. A little change in lifestyle can do wonders, you know.

Why is metabolism important?

As we ingest food, the body transforms calories into energy that feeds our muscles and allows us to perform pertinent bodily functions. In the process of using energy, fat is burned and metabolism is achieved; thus, keeping our body alive. We have to maintain a balanced diet, maintain strenuous physical activity and increased metabolism rate as well in order to lose weight. Engaging in crash diets on the other hand, lessens metabolism and can actually cause weight gain.
Apart from exercise and proper food intake, other factors affect a person’s metabolic response; first is our body structure, this includes the genes and health conditions; second our daily physical activity wherein depending on age (older men have low metabolism rate) and sex, men sport more muscle mass than women; and finally the type of nutrients fed to our body. Never starve yourself because this lessens your metabolic rate. Instead, take 6 smaller meals at regular intervals a day to allow proper food digestion.

For those who perceive exercise and diets as totally alienating and time consuming, they usually take growth hormones because these speeds up metabolism. Nevertheless, intake of growth hormones must be done only under the prescription of medical practitioners due to its diverse bodily reaction. Short time metabolic increase is evident with tea concoctions, but has not proven its effectiveness over weight loss programs. Do not be duped with “fat burning” and “increased metabolic rate” pills, they are not effective and could even cause you digestive tract disorders.

Why is good metabolism necessary?

A good metabolic rate, when achieved naturally, provides additional benefits to the body and helps sustain an enduring weight loss program. As metabolism rate increases and stabilizes; you will have more time for yourself. Less exercise is necessary this way to entail reduced trips to the gym for the conduct of rigorous exercises and burn of calories, while the chances of weight gain becomes nil. Moreover, enjoy more outdoor dinners for you can now eat your favorite foods after forgoing strict diets, to no longer bother with the preparation of low-fat recipes. This saves you money definitely since you need no longer have to buy the pricey, healthy meals. Most of all, you will experience a higher degree of fat loss over water loss. So be fitness-conscious and exercise!

Thanks and have a great day!

How to lose 30 pounds fast

Lose 30 pounds and still be overweight?

Hello-

Yesterday, I was looking at a weight loss site and it had a free body mass index calculator on it and I entered my height, 6′1, and my weight, 245 and it said I was obese. Not overweight, obese. I was a little surprised by this and was playing around with the tool to see what it would take for me to be considered normal. After a few minutes of trial and error, I entered 185 and it said that would finally be normal.

I used to weigh 225 in high school when I played football. I was in shape and had some muscle tone. Since then, I was up to 265 pounds right after my divorce. I’ve managed to lose 20 pounds since then, this was about 3 years ago. In the past year or so, I’ve managed to lose 10 pounds and keep it off.

I would not consider myself obese those. Overweight yes, obese, no. I have a wide frame and broad shoulders. So if any of you girls are looking for a cute guy with broad shoulders, send me an email. :o)

I have a small gut but nothing that hangs down over my pants or anything like that. But if I lost another 60 pounds I would be a toothpick. But that’s what would be considered normal for the BMI numbers.

They need to make a revised BMI system that adjusts for your body frame. Look at the professional athletes. Most of them would be considered obese or overweight and they are some of the best physically fit people around.

If you know of a better system than using the body mass index, let me know. I have read about body fat analyzers and read some positive and negative reviews. But those may be more accurate than the BMI.

That’s all for today.

Go out and enjoy the rest of this leap year!

Have a great day!

Oh, and here’s the link to check your BMI numbers if you’re interested.

Lose 30 pounds with Nutrisystem

Hello-

In my last post, I talked about how much it costs to lose 30 pounds. Today, I wanted to write some about Nutrisystem. You’ve seen the commercials on TV with all the success stories and you may have even read about some of them online. Have you given it a serious look though?

If you’re like me, you’ve probably spent hours and hours reading weight loss books, scouring weight loss sites, reading weight loss magazines and searching all over Google looking for something that works. It can be very frustrating because you just want to lose the weight without spending a fortune and without trying something risky like a fad diet or weight loss surgery.

Lose 30 pounds with Nutrisystem

Lose 30 pounds for $4,798.80!

Hello-

You can lose 30 pounds in 3 to 4 months with the Zone diet and spend almost $5k to do it. Or you could spend as little as $214.80 with a Weight Watchers plan and lose those same 30 pounds.

What the heck am I talking about?

I came across this article about how much does it cost to lose 30 pounds with some of the popular diet plans out there. The costs ranged from $214.80 with Weight Watchers to $4,798.80 with the Zone diet.

Other plans Bankrate looked at were LA Weight Loss, Nutrisystem and Jenny Craig.

The main reason these programs cost so much was they were delivering most or all of the food to you. So if you have trouble with portion control then you can use these programs to discipline you to only eat what you should. The programs do work as long as you stick to them. Most of them helped you lose between 8 to 10 pounds a month so it would take you 3 to 4 months to reach your goal of losing 30 pounds.

Even if I had the money, I don’t think I’d spend up to $40 a day on diet food to help me lose weight. Because you’re not going to be on these programs for the rest of your life. You’ll probably get bored eating the same foods over and over again. You always have to have variety. There’s only so many different kinds of oatmeal you can eat.

I know I got tired of eating oatmeal everyday for breakfast.

Some days I would eat eggs, some days pancakes, some days sugary cereal. I couldn’t stick with eating the same thing over and over again. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who has that problem.

But I have lost a little bit of weight - about 10 pounds - so that kind of keeps me motivated to stick with eating less and eating the healthy foods but I still do cheat once and a while.

There are cheaper weight loss plans out there that allow you to eat regular food, just less of it. And they work just as well too. If you have the money and don’t mind spending it on a diet plan, call the Nutrisystem or Jenny Craig people.

If you want a lower cost option which is just as effective, check out the Top Secret Fat Loss Secret.

Have a great day!

How to lose 30 pounds

Lose 30 pounds eating negative calorie foods

Hello-

This post will help you lose 30 pounds eating negative calorie foods. At the end of this post, I will give you a free list of some of the top negative calorie foods.

What exactly is a negative calorie food and why is it good for you?

when people talk about negative calorie foods, this just means a food whose calorie level is low enough that it takes more energy to eat and digest it than the food contains….”

For example, if you consider water to be a food, then cold water is certainly a negative calorie food. It contains no calories at all and the body has to expend energy to bring it up to blood temperature. So every time we drink a glass of cold water we burn up a couple of calories and lose a little weight. But there are very few foods like this. Most foods that are on the list do not really use more calories than they add, or if they do the effect is negligible … until you remember that at the same time the body expends energy just to keep alive and breathing. Celery for example does not give us enough calories to cover both the energy that it takes to digest it, plus the energy that we expend even when we are doing nothing. So that is why people call it a negative calorie food.

A healthy way to use a negative calorie diet is as a form of fasting or detox. It is something you can do for one to three days right after the Christmas season or another time when you have been eating an over-rich diet. Provided you are otherwise healthy it can be a great way to clean out the system. However it is still best to take medical advice before attempting this.

If you decide to use a negative calorie detox, keep the following points in mind:

1. It is never a good idea to eat huge quantities of one type of food, especially fruits. A lot of foods contain substances that can be damaging if consumed to excess. For example, the acid in grapefruit and pineapple can damage your stomach lining. Other foods put an excessive burden on the liver or may cause diarrhea. So try to use all the different foods in small quantities.

2. Do not spend all day eating. You will just become bloated and feel sick. If you are only doing this for a couple days, you should not feel too hungry. Plan four or five salad meals each day, and let your digestion rest at other times.

3. You will feel more satisfied if you eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly. You will also use more calories that way. So if the foods can be eaten raw, that will be more effective than cooking them. Foods like carrots and beets will also be more satisfying if you eat them grated.

4. Schedule time when you do not have any important commitments. As with fasting or any kind of detox, you may suffer some uncomfortable symptoms including headaches, tiredness, depression and irritability. If these become severe, stop the diet and see a doctor.

5. When you end the detox, plan a gradual return to normal eating.

If all the above points are checked and passed, let’s move on to the list of negative calorie foods.

* Apples
* Asparagus
* Beets
* Blueberries
* Broccoli
* Cantaloupes
* Carrot
* Cauliflower
* Celery stalk
* Celery root
* Cranberries
* Cucumbers
* Eggplant
* Endives
* Garden cress
* Garlic
* Grapefruit
* Green beans
* Green cabbage
* Lamb’s lettuce
* Lemons
* Lettuce
* Onions
* Papayas
* Pineapples
* Prunes
* Radishes
* Raspberries
* Spinach
* Strawberries
* Tangerines
* Tomatoes
* Turnips
* Zucchini

This is just one of the ways you could lose 30 pounds by eating negative calorie foods. You can still add several of these foods to your regular diet as some like apples are rich in fiber and can keep you fuller longer.

Have a great day!

How to lose 30 pounds

The best way to lose 30 pounds

Hello-

Do you know the best way to lose 30 pounds?  What I’ve read and learned is that there are methods of losing weight that are sure to lead you to failure and there are ways to lose weight that will ensure that you have a successful diet.  Trying to lose too much weight too soon with a diet pill or with most celebrity diets will more than likely lead you to failure and you’ll have wasted your time and money.

One of the best ways I’ve found that will help me and you lose 30 pounds is how much we eat - our portion control.  You may have seen the studies that show if we are given a bigger plate to serve ourselves, we will serve a bigger portion to eat and eat more.  If we are given a smaller plate, the reverse is true, we will serve ourselves less and eat less.

So how do you practice good portion control?

First of all - start with a smaller plate or bowl.  Sometimes, I’m guilty of this and eat with an oversized bowl which can hold 2-3 servings of cereal, ice cream, grapes, oatmeal, etc.  Using a smaller bowl will force you to eat less.

As we’ve learned in previous articles, eating just a little less each day will help us lose up to 30 pounds in a year almost effortlessly.

Here’s one tip I’ve found about portion control made easy:

“The Portion Plate – You don’t need to invest in any fancy plate to help you do this, it’s really easy to do anywhere.  Mentally divide your plate in half, fill the first half with vegetables then divide the remaining half in half.  One half will consist of a portion of carbohydrates such as pasta, rice, and so on and the other half should consist of a protein such as chicken, fish, eggs or beans.

That’s your new portion rule from now on, one quarter protein, one quarter carbohydrates and one half fresh salad or veggies.”

Thinking about it this way doesn’t make it seem so hard.  With this new method, you will be getting a balanced diet and you will feel full after you eat.  You won’t be starving and you’ll get all the energy you need to carry your through to your next meal where you practice this mental dividing of your plate again.

Doing it this way will allow you more freedom than a strict diet plan such as Adkins, South Beach or any of the other high profile diet plans.

See how you do and start losing those 30 pounds.

Best way to lose 30 pounds

How to lose 30 pounds in a year

Hello-

Re: How to lose 30 pounds in a year

One of the top New Year’s resolutions is to lose weight.  But that is not specific enough.  Setting a goal of “losing weight” is not going to get you to lose weight.  You need to clearly define your goals and be specific about what you want.  That is the first step of succeeding with anything you do in life.  It is the universal secret that has been passed down from the ages.  You must have a clearly defined goal for you to have any chance of success.

So if you want to lose 30 pounds, write down “I want to lose 30 pounds in one year.” Then you can start adding the details about how you intend to go about doing it.  Some examples would be eating better, drinking more water, drinking less soft drinks including diet soft drinks, walking more, being more active, the list goes on and on.

You do not have to rearrange your whole life to get in shape and lose weight.  You can start small and work on changing one habit at a time and with several smaller changes, you will begin to see the difference.  Work on eating a few less bites of all your meals.  Do not wait until your full to stop eating.  Slow down when you eat so you can feel full faster and not eat as much.

If you get hungry again a short time later, eat some high protein snacks like walnuts, almonds, tuna and turkey.

If you need help walking, phone a friend.  Make a pact with each other to lose 30 pounds each.  Stay in contact with each other often to hold the other one accountable.  We don’t like letting people down, so the social pressure is usually enough to keep us going towards our goals.

Start with these simple tips and you will start to see the pounds drop off slowly.  Rapid results are not always the best answer.

In a year’s time if you stick to these simple changes, you will be leaner, happier, more confident, more energized, and sexier.

How to lose 30 pounds in a year

How to lose 30 lbs

Millions of people each day struggle with trying to lose weight. They suffer through the condemning looks of passersby as they walk down the street. They have to see ads online and TV commercials screaming about “losing weight fast” and “lose 30 pounds in a month!” and other hypey ads. If you want to learn how to lose 30 lbs, you should avoid those types of ads that promise quick weight loss. This article will highlight some ways to help you lose weight sensibly.

The basics of weight loss are such: each pound of fat is 3500 calories. In order to lose one pound of weight, you have to consume or burn 3500 more calories than you take in. So if you eat 2500 calories and day and you burn 2500 calories a day, your weight will stay the same.

So with this in mind, in order to drop those 30 pounds in one year, you would need to eat 300 calories less per day than the 2500 calorie example given above. You would consume 2200 and burn the same 2500 a day. You would slowly lose the weight and see the slimmer you gradually.

Some people want to lose those pounds more rapidly and they go on drastic calorie reduction diets. For example, you consumed 1600 calories a day and you still burned the 2500, you would lose 90 pounds in one year, or 45 pounds in 6 months or about 7.5 pounds a month.

The question now is how long can you maintain that kind of calorie reduction diet? If you can stick with it then you’ll be safe. However, most people would get hungry and be starving all the time.

We all have foods we have to have and sometimes when we get the uncontrollable cravings, we have to eat and eat and eat. And if you’ve been starving yourself for weeks and weeks, the temptation to stop dieting would grow and grow and you would more than likely stop your diet and start eating normal again. At this point, the weight loss would stop and the weight would gradually come back as you consumed more calories than you burned.

Now keep in mind, this is just one way for you to try and lose 30 lbs. You can combine diet and exercise to get your results faster. You could add some supplementation to your dieting to help control your appetite. There are plenty of ways - some safe and some not so safe - to help you get rid of your bulge.

How to lose 30 pounds

I need to lose 30 pounds

Hello-

I need to lose 30 pounds.

I have to get this weight off soon. But how quickly is too quickly? Can I reasonably expect to lose 30 pounds in a month? Many people do. There are tons of diet products being marketed these days with wild claims of losing 30 pounds in 30 days. If someone is severely overweight and is desperate to lose weight, they will believe these claims and buy the diet pills and hope they work just like the previous diets they’ve tried.

You can not expect to lose a pound a day. That is not realistic.

One pound is 3500 calories. You can not have a deficit of 3500 calories a day and be healthy.

This would be starving yourself and cause other health problems if you tried to do it for an extended period of time.

Whether you want to lose 10, 20, or 30 pounds, you have to use some common sense and be sensible about how fast you can lose weight and still be healthy.

I have no wild expectations of losing these 30 pounds in a month. I don’t expect the weight to drop quickly.

I aim to lose the weight gradually and steadily.

And if you need to lose 30 pounds just like me, you should set realistic goals that you can stick to.

Let’s get started.

How to lose 30 pounds

Hello-

I’m fat and I want to lose weight. I am 6′1 and weigh 255 pounds. I need and want to lose 30 pounds. I like to read so I will be doing research on what I need to do to lose all that weight and drop some inches off my belly. I have some nice love handles that I would like to get rid of.

I am a busy person and work 10, 12, 14 hours a day so finding time to workout is hard. Somehow, I need to make some time to make working out and exercising a priority. I also need to watch what I eat. I have started eating healthier. I have almost completely stopped eating junky fast food.

And even when I do eat fast food, I order the chicken meals. I still find grilled chicken a little bland so I’m still eating the crispy chicken meals.

I do drink a lot of water. I rarely drink soft drinks and sugary drinks.

I have young kids that I need to promote a good example of healthy eating. I want to be around to see them grow up. I have to take care of my body, watch my weight, and eat better to lose these 30 pounds.

Throughout this site, I will do my best to document what I plan to do to lose my gut and share that with you.

Join me on my quest to lose 30 pounds.
