I need to lose 30 pounds
18th December, 2007Hello-
I need to lose 30 pounds.
I have to get this weight off soon. But how quickly is too quickly? Can I reasonably expect to lose 30 pounds in a month? Many people do. There are tons of diet products being marketed these days with wild claims of losing 30 pounds in 30 days. If someone is severely overweight and is desperate to lose weight, they will believe these claims and buy the diet pills and hope they work just like the previous diets they’ve tried.
You can not expect to lose a pound a day. That is not realistic.
One pound is 3500 calories. You can not have a deficit of 3500 calories a day and be healthy.
This would be starving yourself and cause other health problems if you tried to do it for an extended period of time.
Whether you want to lose 10, 20, or 30 pounds, you have to use some common sense and be sensible about how fast you can lose weight and still be healthy.
I have no wild expectations of losing these 30 pounds in a month. I don’t expect the weight to drop quickly.
I aim to lose the weight gradually and steadily.
And if you need to lose 30 pounds just like me, you should set realistic goals that you can stick to.
Let’s get started.
