Diet Tips To Kick The New Year Right

Saturday, March 19th, 2011

Make your New Year resolutions stick by making your goals realistic. It would be best to start with your weight loss expectations conservatively. Reducing 10% of your current weight is reasonable enough. This goal should already stand for 6 months to one year. You can read more for some tips for you to start your New Year weight loss plans on the right foot.

Weighing yourself regularly is a good way to keep track of your weight. This will allow you to evaluate your weight loss efforts. You can also gather data from here in order to make good solutions. You may also find the hunger scale useful. You will be providing a corresponding number to the level of your hunger in this scale. For example, zero can correspond to very hungry and ten to stuffed. Seven may be considered full but not overly so. The right time to eat would be represented by the numbers 2 and 3. You can customize this scale according to your convenience. Don’t go below two and above seven. You will be able to keep your energy levels stable in this way.

Eating healthy means getting the essential nutrients you need. Half of your plate should be reserved for vegetables. One fourth should accommodate lean meat, fish and other healthy protein sources. The remaining space should be reserved for complex carbohydrates such as brown rice, potatoes and beans. It would be enough to have a small sliver of space for fats such as nuts and avocadoes. Start the New Year right by downsizing your bowls, plates and cups. Studies reveal that people tend to finish everything in their plates or cups. This can be a good way to practice portion control.

Resolve not to punish yourself with exercise if you had a pig out. You will end up hating exercise if you keep on with this practice. Get active to improve sleep, reduce stress and increase energy. Exercise should not only be done when you’ve had a little too much to eat. It should be a regular part of your fitness plan. Physical activity doesn’t just mean hitting the gym. You can burn extra calories by getting up from your desk and stretching every hour or so. Walking around the office every hour or two can provide you with an additional 200 calorie burn every day.

Starting the New Year with the right weight loss strategies inspires you to stick with it throughout the year. Sensible fitness strategies that work toward your health goals are the best solution to your weight problems.

Ways to Drop Weight - Do Easy Methods to Lose Weight Exist?

Are there any easy ways to lose weight? Everyone knows that diet, lowering caloric intake, and exercise, increasing calories burned, work together as a formula for weight loss. But the hard part is sticking to a low calorie, and often bland, diet. It won’t be 100% simple, but with a little work it sure is possible. Here are some tips to make it easier.

Carry a notebook to jot down everything that passes your lips. Keeping notes helps you eat less. Studies show that people who keep track of what they eat end up eating 15% less. 15% is a lot.

The average American consumes an additional 245 calories per day just from drinks. Make the switch to zero calorie water. 245 calories a day add up to 90,000 calories a year. That’s 25 pounds. Are soda and juice really that good? Keep in mind too that juice and soda don’t trigger a feeling of fullness, despite their calories.

Grazing, eating more smaller meals during the day rather than a few large meals, is another way to drop weight. Studies show that eating in smaller portions more often results in eating 30% fewer calories. Furthermore, even the same number of calories eaten in smaller portions during more frequent meals can result in weight loss. You’re less likely to binge because the body releases less insulin.

Get rid of the “fat” clothes. If you don’t have clothing that’s comfortable when you’re heavier, you’re more likely to be reminded to keep the weight off every time you dress. And you’re less likely to gain weight if doing so means having to buy a whole new wardrobe.

Use smaller plates. It’s proven that people eat what’s in front of them. Smaller plates mean smaller portions, so put the salad plates into use as the main plate.

Try serving meals on the plate, restaurant style, rather than in bowls and on trays. Again, people tend to eat what’s in front of them.

Don’t eat white bread, sugar or white rice. Those are the foods with loads of carbohydrates which lead to higher blood sugar and weight gain. Stick to whole grain breads and dark rice. Don’t worry about the sugar, pretty soon you won’t miss it.

There are a lot of other tips for easy ways to lose weight. Don’t think it won’t take a little work. If weight loss were easy everyone would be slim all the time.

Tips to help you lose 30 pounds

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Hello-

Today, I wanted to share some tips to help you lose 30 pounds.  Now don’t expect to lose all this weight in a week or two.  That would just be silly.  And even if you did manage to lose that much weight that fast, you most certainly would start to gain it all back and then some.

Studies show that if you go off a diet plan that helped you lose 30 pounds, you will gain more than those 30 lost pounds back over time and you’ll be worse off than before you started that diet plan.

I’m not a big fan of diet plans.  I’m more a fan of lifestyle changes.  I have modified my eatings habits to make it easier for me to lose weight over time without dieting or having to do too much exercise.

“there are no shortcuts or magic shakes or bars that will to be your ticket to Slimville”

Planning your meals ahead of time allows you to have nutritious homemade food instead of burgers and fries. Giving up evening snacks alone could knock off 15 pounds by the end of the year. Plans that force you only to eat certain foods are bound to fail because it’s almost impossible to stick to them, and they are often not balanced to give you proper nutrition.

Eat more vegetables and fruits. Limit meats and concentrated sweets. Eating any healthy food alone isn’t enough for the average person.  When choosing your diet, make sure it is low in saturated fats and cholesterol, also moderate in total fat.

Most people need to have some form of exercise in their weight loss routine.  When you exercise regularly, you build stronger muscles, even if you do not work out with weights. Exercise is another vital component of weight loss and weight management.

You should begin and maintain an exercise program which is based on getting at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week. Research shows that following a weight loss program with support from others significantly contributes to weight loss success.  Get a friend to workout with you and you can lose weight together. Make sure you choose physical activities you enjoy that you’ll keep doing.

Dieting can be frustrating! Diets that claim that you can get to your goal weight in no time with minimal effort can be very attractive and easy to fall for.

Try to avoid dieting because it is usually not maintainable or enjoyable.
