I’m currently in high school as a junior this year, and I’m planning to lose thirty pounds by my senior year in july of 2009. I’m 5′7 at 180 pounds. anyone have any tips to lose 30-40 pounds within ten months and how to keep the weight off ? thanks in advance for the advice and tips !

my dad went on the south beach diet. he lost 40 pounds, and has kept it off for over 5 years. just follow the plan it and you’ll lose it. however, you have to be pretty disciplined. if you buy the south beach diet book, it has lots of food recipes for you. good luck! hope this helps!

you also have to exercise regularly. try running 3 miles 3 times a week, then adding in more exercises over time. swimming is good too.

Millions of people each day struggle with trying to lose weight. They suffer through the condemning looks of passersby as they walk down the street. They have to see ads online and TV commercials screaming about “losing weight fast” and “lose 30 pounds in a month!” and other hypey ads. If you want to learn how to lose 30 pounds, you should avoid those types of ads that promise quick weight loss. This article will highlight some ways to help you lose weight sensibly.

The basics of weight loss are such: each pound of fat is 3500 calories. In order to lose one pound of weight, you have to consume or burn 3500 more calories than you take in. So if you eat 2500 calories and day and you burn 2500 calories a day, your weight will stay the same.

So with this in mind, in order to drop those 30 pounds in one year, you would need to eat 300 calories less per day than the 2500 calorie example given above. You would consume 2200 and burn the same 2500 a day. You would slowly lose the weight and see the slimmer you gradually.

Some people want to lose those pounds more rapidly and they go on drastic calorie reduction diets. For example, you consumed 1600 calories a day and you still burned the 2500, you would lose 90 pounds in one year, or 45 pounds in 6 months or about 7.5 pounds a month.

The question now is how long can you maintain that kind of calorie reduction diet? If you can stick with it then you’ll be safe. However, most people would get hungry and be starving all the time.

We all have foods we have to have and sometimes when we get the uncontrollable cravings, we have to eat and eat and eat. And if you’ve been starving yourself for weeks and weeks, the temptation to stop dieting would grow and grow and you would more than likely stop your diet and start eating normal again. At this point, the weight loss would stop and the weight would gradually come back as you consumed more calories than you burned.

Now keep in mind, this is just one way for you to try and lose 30 pounds. You can combine diet and exercise to get your results faster. Weight loss and food processing is biochemistry.. Fat cells are called triglycerides and you need some fat to give you the energy to live and accomplish your daily activities. The fat cells are stored fuel for the body and we need some to give us the energy to live. Lipase is an enzyme that is released into the blood stream when you eat less and exercise. Triglycerides are broken down into fatty acids and glycerol. The muscles act like a sponge and soak up the remaining fatty acids..The fat cells are now absorbed into the liver where the glycerol is absorbed and the remained of the fatty acids go into the muscles. This process keeps our body at 98.6 degress farenheit.This heat is burned off in the process of generating our body heat of 98.6 degrees. When we breath, the carbon dioxide is also eliminated from our body. Urination takes care of the liquids.. One interesting way to lose 30 pounds - politics

I was reading the news on Google the other day and came across this diet tip from Cindy McCain about the best way to lose 30 pounds:

“The best way to lose 30 pounds, she said, was to get out on the campaign trail. As proof: The white pants she was wearing were two sizes too big, she said. This, as Reston points out, comes from a woman who told Vogue that she wears size 0 Lucky Jeans. Not the kind of detail that’s likely to strike a chord of empathy. Or, for that matter, the kind of experience the women in the crowd — any crowd — could replicate. How many will have a chance to hit the presidential campaign trail, as spouses or candidates?” Source

Most of us will not be able to copy Cindy’s weight loss plan, nor would many of us want to.

But the key point is that she is very active and always on the move on the campaign trail.

That’s the key.  You have to keep moving and stay very active.  Walking is one of the easiest exercises you can do.

It’s also the cheapest.

You can wake up in the morning and take a 15-30 minute walk around the block.

Do this before you eat breakfast and just watch how much more energy you have throughout the day.

Get into the habit of staying active and walking whenever you get the chance and you too could drop a pant size or two and before you know it, you’ll have lost 30 pounds.
