The HydroFloss Oral Irrigator - Is It Worth It?
I guess this article would be classified as a review of the hydro floss oral irrigator based on personal observation and use.I really think this device is something that should be discussed.
There was a time when my doctor (dentist) and her hygienist wanted me to take some action against my gum disease problem. They seemed very strong and even a bit forceful that I really needed this treatment.
They presented the concept of ’scaling and root planing’ to me. This is also referred to as a SRP.
I didn’t like the sound of that. It just didn’t sound like it was something that I wanted to go through.
I was told by the hygienist that she would have to go in under the gums and remove the tartar that had formed there over time. She has special tools for the job. She also intended to make the surfaces smooth so that it would be harder for calculus build-up to return.
This procedure appeared to be even worse than I first imagined. It was no comfort to hear her say that she could numb my gums up so that I wouldn’t feel a thing!
I had a feeling that it was going to hurt a little when that medication finally wore off. This was not the kind of life experience that I would remember fondly.
The assistant was clear that If I chose to decline this treatment, they would not be responsible for what happened to my teeth. I had to show that I understood by putting my signature on a waiver. Could things get any worse?
Candidly speaking, I imagined that I was becoming the victim of some slick marketing tactics. I really felt that this was some type of pushy marketing tactic.
Then there was the ‘final straw’ for me. The hygienist told me that it would be best if they started today. She was interested in replacing my regular cleaning with this special treatment.
Her logic certainly seemed reasonable. She was stuck on a potential problem with insurance. If I chose to get the regular and standard cleaning done, my insurance could choose to not pay for the advanced treatment in the future.I really felt, at this point, that I really needed to think about this and I wasn’t willing to commit just yet.
I decided to decline because there was a strong sense inside me that this was not a good idea. There was never any further mention of that waiver, which made me wonder a bit.
All of this sounded a bit ‘off’ to me.I felt that their HAD to be another way to heal my gums.
Later, I found out that a person I know had this protocol done to her.She let me know that the outcome was less than desirable for her.
I hunted around for a possible solution.I ‘discovered’ the hydrofloss.I ordered one.
When the hydrofloss came, I was hopeful. I knew that I was supposed to receive an instructional video with my Hydro Floss but it wasn’t in the package.
I fired off a note, respectfully requesting for the video that was not in the package. It was easy sailing from that point on and I received the video.I watched the video and felt very upbeat.
I believed that this tool was going to help me.I found myself utilizing it often each day.
Approximately, twenty weeks later, I went back to visit the office of my dentist. I was very happy, based on how they reacted.
This was the same doctor and assistant that had looked at my gums previously. Each agreed that there was a vast improvement.I was told that there was no longer any need to worry about that scaling and root planing treatment.
You can probably understand that I was elated to hear this good news. I continue to utilize the hydro floss every day, unless I’m out of town travelling.
If you have been wondering if the HydroFloss is really worth it, let me tell you: In my opinion, it really is worth it! That’s based on my exposure to the device.
